Over the years I've joined many couples in marriage. You have my promise that I will do my best to see that your wedding is all you've ever dreamed of and planned for. Together we can create personal vows just for you.... as unique as the people who speak them... words that come from your hearts to tell the world of the love and devotion you feel for each other.
My wedding ministry is sponsored through the Church of Spiritual Humanism, and the Universal Life Church. I am legally authorized to solemnize marriages in all counties of Missouri, Kansas, and most other states.Although I live in the Kansas City metro area, I am willing to travel almost anywhere to your wedding location, with travel expenses reimbursed. Some states require the filing of celebrant papers, and I can take care of that.
Each ceremony I perform takes into account the wishes of the couple, reflects the bride's and groom's personalities and their uniqueness as a couple. I incorporate the exact amount of spiritualism that the couple considers appropriate. The Universal Life Church is non-sectarian and does not ask for a religious or counseling commitment from the marrying couple.
My education includes a Bachelor's degree in Speech/Theatre. Acting as wedding ceremony writer and celebrant is my avocation -- I do it because I love doing it. I have an extensive library of customary and unusual ceremonies. The parts of these ceremonies can be mixed and matched, to develop a "standard" ceremony. Or if you like, you may add your own selected readings and/or vows that you have written or borrowed from someone else. Also, I can personalize, customize and develop a more unusual script. Special rituals can be added such as a Unity Candle, or memorial to deceased family members, or vows for children of the bride or groom. Unique prayers and religious touches can also be added.
Some people call it "choreography" when the members of the wedding party must know ahead of time where, when and how to stand and move during the ceremony. As an experienced director, I will treat your wedding ceremony as the production that it was meant to be. Taking your suggestions into consideration, I can give you clear advice on the flow of the ceremony. The rehearsal will be a satisfying experience that will allow each participant to come away confident in their role and comfortable with their responsibility.
Being theatrically trained and an experienced public speaker, my voice is soothing and my enunciation is clear and distinct. I will attend to every detail to ensure that the presentation of the ceremony is flawless, and yet, relaxed.
